Mount Diablo sits at the head of the 200-mile long Diablo Range The Diablo Range is unknown to most people - it is the blank space on the California map west of Interstate 5 and east of Highway 101. However, Mount Diablo's long-term ecological health is dependent on its connection to and the ecological health of its sustaining Diablo Range.
Save Mount Diablo has long recognized this and in 2015 began planning an expansion of its conservation work into the greater Diablo Range. As part of this expansion, we began taking trips to familiarize ourselves with the geography, wildlife, and flora of the Diablo Range. The images in this gallery are from those explorations, which are ongoing.
