12/25/2015 - Summit Frost
A gallery of photos from a Christmas Day visit to the frosty summit of Mount Diablo. A cold front had passed through on Christmas Eve, and there was the possibility of snow on the summit. I got up early and headed to Mount Diablo State Park, but the summit road was closed at the Junction Ranger Station. So, I laced up my hiking boots and headed up the Summit Trail for the 1500' climb to the summit. It was a beautiful morning for a hike, but I didn't find much snow - mostly just frost and ice. However, it was still beautiful and well worth the climb.
